ABOUT

LINKING TASMANIAN SENIORS

Linking Tasmanian Seniors (LTS) was established in January 1999 by Ron Clarke OAM, to mark the UN International Year of Older Persons and as a means of linking those seniors who have personal home computers. It is based on similar organisations world-wide which have done much to relieve the isolation of seniors, particularly those who may be lonely or house-bound due to distance or infirmity.

The principal objective is to promote companionship and social interaction with seniors who hold similar interests and who have, or intend to have, access to electronic mail (e-mail); also to provide opportunities for seniors to gain further skills and confidence in computer communication and related technology.

It provides a go-between to forge friendships of people within Tasmania and globally, who have similar interests, creating opportunities for new hobbies, education, entertainment and travel.  Members are automatically members of Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association Inc. with contact to thousands of senior computer users nationally, and share in a range of benefits.

LTS is managed by a committee of ten, comprising eight elected members, a representative of the principal sponsor, and a representative of an associated seniors organisation.
